Provider Bio

April Johnson, MSN, FNP-C
Founder, The Joint Journey Clinic

April Johnson, MSN, FNP-C, is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and the Founder of The Joint Journey Clinic, with over twelve years of experience practicing as a Nurse Practitioner and more than eight years of specialized clinical experience in rheumatology.

Ms. Johnson’s rheumatology background includes extensive evaluation and management of fibromyalgia, chronic pain syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and other autoimmune and inflammatory conditions commonly seen in veteran populations.

She has provided independent medical opinions for the Department of Veterans Affairs through Veterans Evaluation Services (VES) and has worked with Maximus conducting internal peer reviews and medical chart evaluations of VA providers. This experience provides her with direct insight into how VA medical evidence and clinical reasoning are reviewed, evaluated, and applied during the disability claims process.

Through The Joint Journey Clinic, Ms. Johnson offers independent medical opinion services—including nexus letters and medical record reviews—designed to clearly and accurately address the relationship between a veteran’s current medical condition and their military service. All opinions are evidence-based, grounded in medical literature, and prepared in accordance with VA standards.

As the spouse of a U.S. military service member who served for 27 years, Ms. Johnson brings both professional expertise and personal understanding to her work supporting veterans. Veteran services are provided solely as independent medical opinions and do not establish a patient-provider relationship.
